5. What is the colour system called RGB
The colour system RGB - RED GREEN AND BLUE system. It involves mixing a primary colour with another colour to create a new colour with the use of light relflecting. This colour system is generally used by TV screens and computer monitors. If all three colours are mixed the colour produced is white.
6. Explain the video standards PAL, NTSC, and SECAM, what are the main differences between them.
7. Which standard do we use in Australia?
8. What is an IEEE 1394 port
9. Why do digital video cameras use video compression
10. Describe what a codec is.

Introduction to Video , I
1. What are some advantages of digital video
It is clearer and has better quality sound.
2. What is meant by frame rate in video
also known as frame frequency. measures how quickly an imaging device such as video camera produces an amount of images called franes. Fram rate is commonly known as frames per second.
3. Are all videos/movies the same frame rate, explain your answer.
no,because some movies such as the action genre tend to use a lot of high speed action or slow motion for a greater effect whilst other movies need a different effect to create a certain atmosphere.
4. What is meant by resolution, how is it measured.
Resolution is the amount of pixels when an image is taken. The more pixels in an image determines how clear it will turn out.

A] How many people subscribed to the internet in 2007? How many of these were for business use? How many for home use?
This diagram shows that in 2009 there were a great amount of people using the internet.
DIAL UP
Business and government - 188 000
Household- 717 000
Non dial-up
Household : 6 605 000
Business and Government : 1 440 000
3. Why did the data transfer rates vary? [Hint: think of what happens when an eight lane highway moves into a two lane highway?]
Transfer rates can vary due to the fact that many other people will be on the internet at the same time. School computers are all linked to one internet source so it becomes slower, if other people across the world use the same internet provdier than it becomes congested.

10/05/2011 - What is Broadband Part Two
4.What are the speeds that broadband operates at compared to dial up?
Broadband is 512 kilobytes per second while dialup is 28 kilobytes per second .
5.What are some of the advantages of using a broadband connection to download something like a video compared to dial up?
And advantage of broadband internet is that it can download faster compared to dial up. By using broadband connection the phone line wont be affected and your download can continue. Broadband internet does not charge for the duration of the connection so if the video takes hours to load then you won't be wasting money.

10/05/2011 - What is Broadband, Part One
1.What is broadband?
Broadband is simply faster than dialup internet.
2.What units are used to measure bandwidth?
Bandwith speed is measured in kilobits per second (kbps). The higher it is the faster the download speed it.
3.How much faster is broadband than dial up?
Broadband starts at ( 512kbps)therefore broadband is can be up to 100 times faster then dialup internet.

Sound Questions, Part Two
3. What unit is used to measure sampling rate?
DEFINITION
Samples rate : rate at which samples are captured.
Sample rate is measured in hertz (Hz) / this allows digital recording to record higher frequencies of sound.
NTS : humans can’t hear above 20 000 Hz . More common ones are 96 and 192 KHz
4.Compare the quality of AM, FM and Digital radio.
AM (amplitude modulation)is when the carriere wave is changed by changing its amplitidue. The operating frequency is expressed in kilohertz (kHz).
FM (frequency modulation)provides high quality signal and clearer sound. It has a very high frequenct. the frequency wave is changed according to the amplitude and pitch of the signal. It is expressed meghuerts (MHz)
Digital Transmitting Digital radio is the next generation of radio. It allows better sound quality and a broader signal
This shows that digital transmitting is the most effective.
Personally I would stick with FM.

Sound Questions , Part One
1. Sound moves through what medium?
Sound moves in mechanical wave. A mechanical wave is a disturbance that moves and transports energy from one place to another through a medium. A medium is any series of interconnected and interactive PARTICLES. Sound can travel through gases, liquids and solids.
2. What unit is used to measure sample size ?
DEFINITON : Sample size or sample format us the number of digits in a representation of each sample. Sample rate would be the horizontal line and the sample format is the vertical line.
Samples size is measured in decibels (dB) that allows greater dynamic range, the higher the sample sizes.

Term Two : Video Production
6/5/11
Yesterday was the second lesson of IST. We were to be put into groups for the video production assignment. In my group there is Diyomira, Jessica and Tanisha. We started to brainstorm ideas for the assignment, this is what we have so far :
• Lost in the jungle or some harsh environment
• The story of an adopted child/siblimng
• Gothic genre e.g supernatural
• Inspiratational movie
• Comedy - how to videos
• Funny documentary
• Cliche romance film
• Ailens
• Parodies of classsic movies such as pride and predjudice, titanic etc.
• Magic
So far we tend to be heading towards the jungle idea as there are still many parks/ recreational areas to record and it should be a lot of fun with the use of all our imagination . (:
** post dates seem to be incorec**
