PROBLEM and Possibly final posts on game .

so my broadcast worked and then now it doesnt ? i am so confused. scratch is just unreliable. sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and its rather frustrating when doing anything on it .

working perfectly fine to not working. and i don't know how to fix that. i didn't change any scripts and yet it didn't stop .

almost there !

TWO AND A HALF HOURS LATER AND I FINALLY finally figured out how to broadcast from level to when the timer hit 0 and the kills were ten or above it would switch to ''well done'' meaning the game was over but . it just kept reseting and resetting. i don't think i used the ''proper'' way but it worked ! i just timed it so that well done would only appear after 26 seconds ! but i honestly don't mind if its proper it works and thats what i'm happy about ! (:

all thats left to do is upload !

Glimpse of final game.

experimental game is the final product and has turned into this :

Problems and Thoughts continued

5) understanding how to broadcast certain things on to the screen.
e.g if the player hadn't reached kill above 10 then the game over would come up
but if they would be sent to the next level. that was hard because there was a lot of progress and operators and controls and timing i had to do do stop all scripts and sprites and generate another level.

6) some reason my scoring is messing up again - to be fixed soon , if i can figure it out.

Assignment Work, thought and problems

Quite a lot of challenges whilst in the process of making my game

1) getting the spirtes to move the way i wanted them to. the problem was that i had a sprite move ten steps when it was already gliding so it ''jumped''

2) getting the scope circle  to follow the mouse. first it would dollow the mouse around like a dog on a leash. this was overcome by changing it to ''mouse pointer''. since i had set the scope to make things hide when it touched the colour which was black the whole scope could be used to shoot instead of just the centre part of it. i changed the colour in the middle so that only the centre could shoot and score.

3)the timing of sprites as they appear and disappear of the screen. overcame this just simply from experience. at first i couldnt get them to disappear and appear on time.

4) scoring and variables. if i held the pointer on the sprite too long i would be able to score continuously even though i only clicked once. i had to add a ''wait...'' block so that it would score after an amount of time has passed.

continued on next post............

30/11/11 Example Five of Eight - Surprise Button !

testing with sound

30/11/11 Example Four of Eight - Say Something

Made this when i was waiting a long time for help the other day. SAY SOMETHING ! so i did.

30/11/11Example Three of Eight - Whirl

Example three. Whirl.
From this I learnt that you could mix several blocks together not just from the progess or operator blocks, with anything.

Flowchart

• The rectangles indicate Process steps.
• The diamonds indicate Decisions, or branches in the process.
• The circles indicate Connectors which act as jump nodes from one part of the process to another.
• The ovals ( Terminators) indicate the process boundaries, showing where the process starts and stops.
• The arrows ( Flow Lines) indicate the process flow direction.

Questions on Flowcharts
1. For each of the flowcharts below describe in words what you think they will do.

In this flowchart the computer is given instruction to read the temperature. Once the tempreture is read the computer is give another instruction. If the temperature is below 32 then the computer is to print out ‘’ Below Freezing’’ and then the task is done. If the temperature is not below 32 degrees print ‘’Above Freezing ‘’ then the task is complete.

The computer is turning on a screen or tv of some sort. It’s told to only turn on LED once the switch is on. Once one second has passed then you can turn off LED and restart the timer and then your done.

Task One Defintions and Algorithms (II)

Then with the aid of class discussions, write an algorithm for the following processes;

opening a door and entering a room.

walk to the door
turn to face door
reach hand out towards the door handle
push down on handle of door
push door open using hand.
enter room by taking ten steps.

2Negotiating traffic lights as you drive down a street.

Task One Defintions and Algorithms (I)

Using the web, find definitions for the following terms and post them on your blog. Make sure the definitions relate to computers and programming

Algorithms
Algorithms in computing are structured and well defined instructions for a computer to function.

Pseudocode
is an outline written so it can easilt be converted into programming statements. Pseudocode cannot be execute but it simply a step in producing a final code.

Machine Language
is the lowest level of programming language. This language is only understood by computers.

High Level Computer Language
a language not limited to the computer for one specific job. It allows a programmer to write programs that or independent of a type of computer. It is called high level because it’s close to human language.

Flowchart
a diagram of the sequence of operation and algorithms in a computer program or accounting system.

Sequence
an order where actions or movements are followed by each other. Usually lines of codes. Steps or line shown over and over again. Repeated/

Selection
is like a question and answer form. E.g If Condition A is True then perform Action X else perform Action Y.

Repetition
The action of repeating something that has already been said or written
Steps or line of code shown over and over again, repeated.

Phone Advice 14/8/2011

Phone Advice

Imagine you work as an assistant in a mobile phone shop. A mother comes into your shop wanting to buy a smart phone for her daughter. Her mother is not very “tech savvy” and needs some concepts and features explained. Below are some of her questions, do your best to provide meaningful answers in simple terms;

1. “My daughter insists that her phone be Wifi capable? What does this mean? Why does she need it?”
Wifi capable is the phones ability to connect to the inernet throught wireless networks through wireless hotspots - where the internet coverage is strong. She may need the wifi so she can connect to the internet wherever she is in the house, if you have wireless at your home. She can easily walk around the house while browsing the internet, its basically like her having a pocketsize laptop.

2.The mother says “She wants the camera in the phone to be at least 5 Meg thingys, what does this mean? Does she need it?”
5 Megapixels. 5 Megapixels is the amount of little images it takes to create the bigger image on her phone screen. If she wants to take decent clear photos, with standard quality and she's big on taking photos and capturing videos, then yes she would need it.

3. “My daughter wants a phone with a capacitive touch screen. They seem more expensive, what advantages do they offer over other types of touch screens?”
Well theres two types of touchscreen phones. The one your daughter wants the capacitive touch screen, it only allows her to use the phone with her fingers, because its designed to responds to an electrical charge that ALL humans have. The advantages of this is that you don't neet a stylus or pen to navigate through a phone and it saves you from buying more stylus' or pens in the future if you know, she loses them. The capacitive touch screen is usally more responsive, so she'd be able to navigae quicker and answer phone calls from you for example much quicker.

4. “Are all phone as smart as one another? What is the smartest phone at the moment and why?”
No they are not. Different companies create phones for different purposese, some for business others for just the average phone user. With business phones more computing things are put towards it rather than normal phones and the capabilities of each phone vary. The smartest phone at the moment would have to be the iPhone4. The iPhone 4 Although it really just depends on which brand you prefer to use. There are soooo many reasons to why it is considered the smartest phone, I could go on all day, but mainly because of the way the phone operates and its ability to run applications. Your daughter could edit microsoft documents on the go for example or simply view them on her phone. It is also capable with Mac laptops or computers.
It just really depends on what she's looking for.

5. “She wants to take lots of video and photos. How do I know which phone can store the most videos and photos?”
Well phones have internal memory and external memory. Internal memory is the memory that is installed on your phone when you buy it. Its a default componenet of a phone. And depending on what phone she wants she can store up to 4000 or so photos on a phone with 8gigs of memory like the Nokia E6 for example. And if she needs more memory phones have the capability for external memory, so she would put an SD card, which is a small memory card that goes into her phone and holds the information there. Phones have specifications which have the details on a phone and its ability to hold memory and the amound of external memory it can hold.

6. “She says she wants to be able to buys apps. What are apps? What sort of useful apps cold(COULD, sorry sir, there was a typo i just had to.) she access? What types of phones can buy and use apps?”

Evidence of Research into the Multimedia Presentation Tools (I)

ZOHO

Versatility : zoho does not allow me to add images, sound nor video to the page. there is an option that allows me to but it does not work.

Ease of Use: this site is not very user friendly, it looks straightforward but there are no help tools or tutorial show me how to use the site. It doesn't really allow me to add components to my presentation. It's not really friends its quite confusing. Honestly, i don't know how users will ever acces this page. This was not easy to use, it was stressful.

Collaboration : this can only be accessed by the user who signed up, i don't know if other people can acces it. this site was just too confusing to work with.

What is Broadband?.. again. (IV)

4. The Federal Government is thinking of rolling out a national broadband network (The NBN). Research the NBN and find out:

National broadband network is an initiative by the Australian government to give accces to high speed broadband to all Australians.

a. what method of delivery it will use
the method od delivery that they are going to use it optical fibre. Using light to carry information through thin glass or plastic.

b. the expected speed
The speed ot the NBN is expected to be 1 gigabit per second. The speed is similar to downloading a one gigabyte movie in 1minute and 20 seconds.
c. the expected costs
the government is expected to spend up to $43 billion.

5. Do you think Australians should invest in The NBN? Justify your answer.

Yes because it is a way of connecting people right across the country and possibly the world. It gives people the access to high speed internet access at a ‘cheap’ price according to the government. It could have many educational benefits and could improve the standards of teaching. It also provides high speed internet for online gamers who use LAN to connect and verse stheir opponents in games.

What is Broadband...again. (III)

Examples of the available deals to a consumer.

27/7/2011 What is Broadband ... again (II)

3. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each method.

Wireless

Advantages :
-Can acces the interntet almost anywhere.
-Easiter to access and less hassle connecting,.

Disadvantages
-Speed is relatively slow and lag.
-Internet security is relatively low. And Data is sensitive.
-Cost is expensive for the amount of data given to a customer.

Cable Advantages
-Speed – cable broadband is generally faster
-Telephone line is not interfered with when phone calls and such are incoming.

Disadvantages
-Modem needs to be purchased when connecting to cable internet.
-Reception issues – if there are too many users online at the same time then it slows/lags the internet. Also, users who are further away from the ISP then there is fairly bad connection.
-There’s usually a limit to the amount of data available to the user.
-Cost to install cable can be expensive if there is no existing cable is used for cable TV for example.

ADSL
ADVANTAGES
-Speed is relatively fast and is decent for households.
-ADSL like cable broadband does not interfere with the phone lines, and there is no need to call in for internet connection like the precious dial up internet.
-The cost is fixed because you pay for the amount of data rather than the duration of being on the internet.

Diadvantages
-The signal is not the best because the speed of the internet isn’t always consistent. Those living further ay rom the service provider will have a weaker signal compared to those who are living closer to the service provider.
-Speed – because of this signal issues speed is effected if you live further away from the internet service provider.

Fibre Optic

Advantages
-Faster high speed internet with more download limit.
-does not require a phone line.
-Signals don’t become weaker as you move away from your internet service provider. Provides a consistent reliable connection even if you live far away from the internet service provider.
-Generally cheaper and more durable.
-Increased data security and are not affected by electromagnetic radiation.
-non-flamable, because no electricity is passed through the optical fibres there is no danger.

Disadvantages
-cables could be cut or damaged, so light rays transmitting the information is not sent fast or efficiently.
-Fibre optic cables are more fragile than electrical wires

19-7-2011 What is broadband ...... again. (I)

1. What is broadband?
Broadband is the process of communicating through the use of different frequencies to send information to one place to another. Broadband is most commonly known as the 'internet' and is faster than dial up.

2. Outline the methods of delivery of broadband (wireless, cable, ADSL and fibre)? Identify the speed of each method.

Wireless Broadband : wireless broadband is when frequencies are being sent via radio waves. Wireless broadband is accessed through various hotspots – where the connection of the wireless is at its strongest.

Cable Broadband : made from material which increases the bandwith limits. The increase of bandwidth means that three is faster internet.
SPEED : 10000/128kb depending which internet server is chosen.

ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subsriver Line) technology that uses a pre existing unused portion part of a phone line that sends data transmissions. 256 kilobits per second.

Fibre Optic –trapping light and using light to and the total internal refraction to transmit information through thin flexible wires.

BEHOLD. THE SCRIPT !

Script .
Kaye: They’ve all disappeared.
Tanisha: What day is it today?
Kaye: I’m pretty sure it’s Friday.
Sing together- Kaye & Tani’s
“It’s Friday”
Kaye: Everyone disappeared.
Tanisha: I know, but it’s Friday.
*we fall.
Both cry in pain as they fall.
Kaye: They better not be spiders
Wow where are we, it’s so .. do you hear those birds ?
Tanisha: Yeah
Kaye: Help me up, Where are we it’s so green.
Tanisha: *screams*
Kaye: Oh careful, hey is this a magic passageway .
I wonder where this will lead us.. On a count of three we will go.
Tanisha: Where ?
Kaye: There , ready !.. woooah there’s a spider.
Tanisha: Oh let’s get out of here.
Kaye: Oh my !
Kaye: Wow Tanisha where are we, how did we get here?
Tanistha: This looks cool!
Kaye: Why did all of a sudden start raining, did we teleport?
Tanisha: No, It was sunny
Kaye: It wasn’t raining! Wow, you know what this reminds me of?
Tanisha: What?
Kaye: shuuush! Did you hear that?
Tanisha: woaah
Kaye: Could it possibly be? A genie like in the movies.
Whats that sparkle? Don’t chuck it out?
Tanisha: Keep hold of me. Kaye, wait where are you?
Kaye where did you go? Where did i lose her?
Now i’m lost and she’s probably lost too
Diyomira: Hellooo lost traveller.
Tanisha: Woaaah
Diyomira: I am your magical genie
Tanisha: A genie??
Diyomira: Oh you know they live in a bottle.
Tanisha: Where’s the bottle?
Diyomira: Over there, you found it so i hear i am.
Tanisha: Oh that explains a lot.
Diyomira: So three wishes, what are they? Think very hard.. you only have three!
Tanisha: pssht three, i want to be a millionaire,I want to go to paris and i just really want to go home.
Diyomira: Well would you like to make a wish out of them, Saying you want them isn’t going to make them appear. When i’ll clap my hands your wish will come true
Tanisha: I wish to be a millionaire.
Diyomira: Money.
Tanisha: Oh my god! I wish to go to paris.
Diyomira: Look around you .. You are where you want to be!
Tanisha: France, and i can go to Venace. Oh this is beautiful!
Diyomira: Now you have one last wish, Be very careful. Once you say it i’ll be gone and make sure you don’t forget anything or anyone.
Tanisha: I wish to go home.
Diyomira: All by yourself?
Tanisha: Yes i really just want to go home!
Diyomira: Well then if going home by yourself is what you really want.
Diyomira leaves..
Tanisha: oh it feels empty, i got everything i want .. money.
Kaye: Hi Tanisha.
Tanisha: Oh my hi, how are you?
Kaye: How did you get back?
Tanisha: I found people.. genie
Kaye: Genie?
Tanisha: How did you get back?
Kaye: Genie..
Tanisha: The one with the ..
Kaye: Black and bracelets?
Tanisha: Yes, she found you , you found her ?
Kaye: Yeah so did you get three wishes?
Tanisha: Yes i did!
Kaye: So what did you wish for how did you get back here?
Tanisha: You didn’t wish for me did you? *laughs*
Kaye: Oh of course i did! Huh ..
Tanisha: wait so what did you wish for ?
Kaye: Oh well i didn’t wish for anything, nothing of your concern .
Things will feel a bit different then .. Bye Tanisha!
Tanisha: Nothing. Thats funny . But what did she wish for?
Hmm yeah never mind that’s life !

GNATT CHART,

this wonderful colourful creation was created by Diyomira :D GOOD WORK.

EXTENSION TWO (II)

i would chose this because it offers high speed internet. PAying 69.95 dollars oer month for 200GB. There is no extra charges for going over. Also, it comes in a bundle so there would be phone connection and internet connection also.

OF THE TWO I WOULD CHOSE TPG.

EXTENSION TWO (I)

TPG broadband ADSL2+ paying $59.99 for unlimited usage. I would choose this because TPG and Telestra are the only available providers in my area. I would chose this because it offers a cheap price for a large amount of usage, since I myself watch a lot of video's and download music and research without worrying that my internet is going to lag becaue i'm almost capped and other members of my family would also be using the internet also.

Assignment : Synopsis.

Basically, its quite cliche. There are two girls at school who go out to lunch to discover that everyone has disappeared. The two wonder around. They trip and find themselves in a forested area and forest. Where the two split and a Geannie is then found who grants both three wishes, but the video only follows the story of one of the girls.

The target audience is anyone of any age really .

LESSON : KARMA does exist and don't be greedy.

Uploading Video From Phone

I would get video's from my phone (Nokia 6760) by connecting it to the computer using a Nokia 6760 phone data cable (CA-101) . My phone stores video's in mp4 format. The I need to access my phone by clicking on open to view contents then select video's from my memory card. Depending where i want to upload my video i can either drag and drop onto my desktop or upload directly form my SD card.

New Terms : Audio Files

Stereo
Sound is divided into two seperate channels. These two channels are played back during the same time but in seperate channels. This seperation is used to create a deeper and fuller sound.
Audio stereo means sound which is divided into two separate channels.

Channel
Is a way of delivering audio signals from a point to another point. Directed towards a point.

Track
Is a single stream of an audio. It is usually used in film soundtracks.

Data Compression II

4.What is the difference between Lossy and Lossless data compression?
Lossy data compression only allows an aproximation of the data to be recreated in exchange for better compression rates. Losless data compression is data compression alogorithims that allow the EXACT data to be recreated FROM the compressed data.

5.Which method offers the greatest compression ratio?
The method with the greatest compression ratio is lossy data compression. Video's for example can be compressed at a 100 : 1 ratio. Rate of a losst c ompression is about 5-6 % whilst the rate is ten times more.

Data Compression I

1.What is data compression?
Data compression is mostly used in communication devices such as mobile phone because it allows devices to transmit or stor the same amount of data ( a video for example) in fewer bits.

2. What is a data compression ratio ?
Data compression ratio, also known as compression power, is a term used to describe the reduction in data size using a data compression algorithm.

3.Why is data compression an important technique for the online world?

Data compression allows us to stor information digitally, overcomes the sice limitations of storage devices. Important in transmitting over communication networks.

Introduction to Video , I

1. What are some advantages of digital video
It is clearer and has better quality sound.

2. What is meant by frame rate in video
also known as frame frequency. measures how quickly an imaging device such as video camera produces an amount of images called franes. Fram rate is commonly known as frames per second.

3. Are all videos/movies the same frame rate, explain your answer.
no,because some movies such as the action genre tend to use a lot of high speed action or slow motion for a greater effect whilst other movies need a different effect to create a certain atmosphere.

4. What is meant by resolution, how is it measured.
Resolution is the amount of pixels when an image is taken. The more pixels in an image determines how clear it will turn out.

A] How many people subscribed to the internet in 2007? How many of these were for business use? How many for home use?

This diagram shows that in 2009 there were a great amount of people using the internet.

B] Look at the access technologies heading. How many more people are using broadband since 2005? Remember that you have to add 000 to the numbers.

DIAL UP
Business and government - 188 000
Household- 717 000

Non dial-up
Household : 6 605 000
Business and Government : 1 440 000

3. Why did the data transfer rates vary? [Hint: think of what happens when an eight lane highway moves into a two lane highway?]

Transfer rates can vary due to the fact that many other people will be on the internet at the same time. School computers are all linked to one internet source so it becomes slower, if other people across the world use the same internet provdier than it becomes congested.

10/05/2011 - What is Broadband Part Two

4.What are the speeds that broadband operates at compared to dial up?
Broadband is 512 kilobytes per second while dialup is 28 kilobytes per second .

5.What are some of the advantages of using a broadband connection to download something like a video compared to dial up?
And advantage of broadband internet is that it can download faster compared to dial up. By using broadband connection the phone line wont be affected and your download can continue. Broadband internet does not charge for the duration of the connection so if the video takes hours to load then you won't be wasting money.

10/05/2011 - What is Broadband, Part One

1.What is broadband?
Broadband is simply faster than dialup internet.

2.What units are used to measure bandwidth?
Bandwith speed is measured in kilobits per second (kbps). The higher it is the faster the download speed it.

3.How much faster is broadband than dial up?
Broadband starts at ( 512kbps)therefore broadband is can be up to 100 times faster then dialup internet.

Sound Questions, Part Two

3. What unit is used to measure sampling rate?

DEFINITION
Samples rate : rate at which samples are captured.
Sample rate is measured in hertz (Hz) / this allows digital recording to record higher frequencies of sound.

NTS : humans can’t hear above 20 000 Hz . More common ones are 96 and 192 KHz

4.Compare the quality of AM, FM and Digital radio.

AM (amplitude modulation)is when the carriere wave is changed by changing its amplitidue. The operating frequency is expressed in kilohertz (kHz).

FM (frequency modulation)provides high quality signal and clearer sound. It has a very high frequenct. the frequency wave is changed according to the amplitude and pitch of the signal. It is expressed meghuerts (MHz)

Digital Transmitting Digital radio is the next generation of radio. It allows better sound quality and a broader signal

This shows that digital transmitting is the most effective.
Personally I would stick with FM.

Sound Questions , Part One

1. Sound moves through what medium?

Sound moves in mechanical wave. A mechanical wave is a disturbance that moves and transports energy from one place to another through a medium. A medium is any series of interconnected and interactive PARTICLES. Sound can travel through gases, liquids and solids.

2. What unit is used to measure sample size ?

DEFINITON : Sample size or sample format us the number of digits in a representation of each sample. Sample rate would be the horizontal line and the sample format is the vertical line.

Samples size is measured in decibels (dB) that allows greater dynamic range, the higher the sample sizes.

Term Two : Video Production

6/5/11
Yesterday was the second lesson of IST. We were to be put into groups for the video production assignment. In my group there is Diyomira, Jessica and Tanisha. We started to brainstorm ideas for the assignment, this is what we have so far :

• Lost in the jungle or some harsh environment

• The story of an adopted child/siblimng

• Gothic genre e.g supernatural

• Inspiratational movie

• Comedy - how to videos

• Funny documentary

• Cliche romance film

• Ailens

• Parodies of classsic movies such as pride and predjudice, titanic etc.

• Magic

So far we tend to be heading towards the jungle idea as there are still many parks/ recreational areas to record and it should be a lot of fun with the use of all our imagination . (:

  • MPEG files

  • Shockwave files

In your notes refer to what they are used for, their colour depth and file size characteristics

GIF FILE

A GIF sometimes pronounced jiff means , GRAPHICS INTERCHANGE FORMAT. This file format is generally what is used all across the internet. GIF supports many different colours and image resolutions.

JPEG FILE

It compresses images, and it only chooses the pixels that can be seen by the human eye to ensure that space is not wasted. At a moderate compression level it makes it harder for the eye to notice the difference between the slight details.

ANIMATED GIF

animated gif is a series of gif images played one after the other. It can look very realistic with enough frames to create it. This format takes up plenty of space.

MPEG

attempts to remove frames that are repeated in a compressed video. It is able of putting on sound tracks on which animated GIF's cannot do and had more frames - file sizes are much larger.

Digital Artwork

Its a little hard to see cause of the way i print screened it. It was difficult to create this because I for one don't have a steady hand. I liked how a website so simple still had the ability to give tools such as opacity, thickness of brush and colours and the ability to put a frame around the artwork ! (:
I think with further practice it is possible to create a more proffesional looking image .

Buying A Graphics Tablet

1. Go to the Harris Technology site http://www.ht.com.au/ and look for wacom products

2. Copy the information about the wireless tablet into this document

3. Explain in terms we can understand what is meant by

Pressure levels (how many does the scanner have, what does it mean)

Pressure levels is how sensitive the tablet is to the pressure on the surface. Pressure sensitivity can controls things such as line thickness, transparency and colour. The more pressure sensitive the tablet it the more responsive it will be, therefore, there is more control to you.

The pressure level for the tablet listed above is 2048, therefore, it is quite sensitive.

Resolution (what resolution does the tablet have)

The resolution refers to how many dpi's or pixels that are used to create the image. The more amount of pixels used, means that the image, or the document comes out clearer .

This tablet has the resolution of : 5080 lines per inch. Meaning that the picture quality of this tablet is high.

4. What is the cost of the tablet.

This tablet cost $557 .

The Frame Rate of my animation
29 frames per second.

The length of my animation is 57 seconds

FINAL SIZE OF MY ANIMATION
Frame width : 720

Frame Height : 480

Data Rate : 2799kbps
Total Bitrate : 2997kbps

Difficulties and Overcoming Them

Whilst creating my animation I encountered various problems.

When I was creating my character on Inkscape, the program kept crashing when I was working on it so all the work that i had done that lesson went to waste. This happened to me twice, I became very paranoid and then started saving after every little detail I had added to my animation to ensure that it wouldn't happen again .

After creating the character, I started exporting it, half way through I put my exported images onto movie maker to see how long it was. My background was transparent and i had already done 58 frame, I overcome this problem by using pain.NET to change the background, however, in doing so the shading on Toad's head disappeared, I decided to just leave it because it was only for a short amount of time then change the setting on my Inkscape task, so that the colour was solid. The shading at one point just comes out of no where during the animation.

These were the problems that I encountered.

Image Format Frames Were Saved As
The format of the file when the image was eported was a PNG file ( opens with windows photoviewer ) .

Format of Image During the Development of the Frames

During the development of the frames the images were being saved as a svg. format, a scalable vector graphics file. This allowed me to edit the image so that I could continue to create my animation and my frames were still realtively smooth as I moved them.

Design Process Of Animation

First I chose the picture which i wanted to base my mascot on. I found a picture of toad. I redrew toad on Inkscape. Inkscape allowed me to stick to most of the details of toad from his jacket to his pant which were lightly shaded at the bottom.
I used Inkscape to create Toad because I had some experience with it therefore I could quickly and easily get my assignment done. After Toad was drawn I then grouped his mouth, tongue, body, pants, feet.... everything but his arms and legs/feet/shoes because they were the parts of Toad that I was going to use. I started moving the arms and legs and exported the images into my IST folder in a PNG format. at my 58th frame I realised that my background was transparent after trialling the images on movie maker. Mr Cavil changed my background setting so the rest of my frames were white. I decided to change the 58 frames white using paint.NET even though Toad's head would be effected - shading would be lost.

I added all the frames into movie maker where i changed the duration of the frames where Toad was jumping around to 0.17 and changed the duration of the frames where Toad was cheering/yelling G O C L A R E to 0.07 to make it look more realistic. I then published the animation to a WMV file so that I could post it on blogger and because it was a requirement for the assignment.

To create this animation I used : Inkscape, paint.NET and Windows Live Movie Maker. Inkscape was used to create the character. I used it because it had the right tools to easily and efficiently make the toad. It did exactly what I wanted. I did try to use Microsoft Word - shapes but it was difficult and I knew i couldn't stick to details if I used it. Inkscape was also used to create the text "GO CLARE" Inkscape allowed me to export my images as a PNG file.

paint.NET was used to fix my background and toads head because originally my background was transparent but then half way through I realised that the background was transparent so it turned black. I used the magic tool and the fill tool to recreate the background and head. Windows Live Movie Maker was used to create the animation. The frames were put into movie maker where I changed the duration of each frame. At the start of it when it was set for 5 seconds the animation went for 58 minutes ! so i reduced it down to 0.17 seconds when Toad is jumping and waving his hands and 0.07 when Toad starts yelling out the "GO CLARE" individually. Movie Maker was used to convert the video into a WMV. file which then allowed me to post it on my blog.

This image was created using Inkscape. I had difficulty using the gradient tool so the eye region turned out orange instead of grey.
